Facilitating change and encouraging the body’s natural healing processes.
We facilitate change, encouraging the body’s natural healing processes, using manual therapy, education, movement re-education and lifestyle changes.
For many years Nikki remains surprised at the difference in service available to the elite sportsperson and the general public. She has always strived to maintain the same standard of care and offer each individual with the highest level of interest, respect, compassion, empathy and understanding regardless of personal circumstances.
Relationship – the professional therapeutic relationship is key to any successful outcome. Nikki always strives to develop an open, understanding and honest line of communication. She needs you to be comfortable and confident in the clinic setting so that you are always in a position where you understand what is happening and what is expected of you and understand that you are able to communicate freely.
Specificity – the accuracy of the treatment, to the most miniscule detail can make a massive difference to the outcome of the treatment. It is important to influence as many of the ‘drivers’ which serve to maintain a dysfunctional system. An evidence-based approach will ensure the best outcome.
Individuality – none of us are the same, we heal at a different rate, some of us are better with doing our homework than others, some will ‘get it’ quicker than others. Importantly we will all have different expectations and goals, these must be explored so that you are getting what you need from Physiotherapy.
After such an expansive career (encompassing both Physio and Counselling) Nikki has developed a finely tuned skills at adapting the session to your needs, taking it at a pace and level which suits you.
Nikki believes in early intervention in order to encourage preventative as well as reactive treatments. A stitch in time………
We do use our hands – however this is not a passive approach – we encourage full patient participation and responsibility, thus avoiding dependence on therapy and getting discharged quicker.
With your developing understanding, involvement and application of your preventative strategies that you gain independence from therapy.
