More About Nikki

Nikki qualified as a Chartered Physiotherapist at the Royal Orthopaedic Hospital in Birmingham in 1992. After completing her Senior II rotation she started working within a large private clinic in Cork, Ireland. The experience gained there encouraged her to study full time for a further year in Perth, Western Australia where she completed her Post-Graduate Diploma in Manipulative Therapy.

On returning to Ireland she opened her own private practice and it was during this time that she was also employed by the Irish Rugby Football Union as Physiotherapist for Munster RFC and the Combined Provinces Teams (Irish B). She was also responsible to the Irish Sports Council for screening elite, professional and Olympic athletes of many different disciplines.

Having taken the opportunity to sell her practice in Ireland she had the chance to return home to Wales where she established a small practice in Upper Bangor. Due to expansion more space was required and therefore the new practice was acquired.

Nikki until recently, has been actively involved in both an advisory and hands on capacity with the preparation of the Gogledd Cymru Rugby team towards their semi-professional status. Having worked for the Irish Sports Council with their screening programme for elite athletes she has a particular interest in the application of the preventative strategies employed, by applying the same principles of encouraging responsibility and education to her excellent manual therapy skills, to encourage patient participation and understanding in the relief and management of their problems.

Nikki specialises in the treatment of spinal pain, neuro-musculoskeletal problems and sports injuries. Having a special interest in the treatment of chronic pain problems, stimulated an interest in a holistic approach and consequently she has recently completed her training as a Counsellor and hopes to complete an MA studying the interaction between body and mind – this being of great importance in the treatment of trauma and chronic pain.

It is Nikki’s belief that the service delivery to elite sports people and the general public should be of a similar standard and this is the philosophy of her Clinic.

She feels strongly that treatment should be sought early and where possible encourages prevention as well as reactive treatments.

Nikki Davies provides a bi-lingual service.
